Autumn/Winter 2020 : Ethnoscape

NANUA is entering its third season, and this season’s collection is inspired by the word "Ethnoscape" Actually, this collection does not delve into the meaning of this word. ( or Actually the name does not exactly express the essence of the collection. ) If I dare say, it is a collection created in thoughts recalling me as a foreigner living in a globalized world, who set up a base in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, and began making clothes here. More than 90% of Nanua's clothing manufacturing process is done in Chiang Mai, a small city with a unique local culture. However, there are various backgrounds leading up to the production of this collection - the gloom of Paris, where I spent my college days, the blazing sunlight that I saw in the land of Africa, as well as the diversity of cultures in the Caucasus. While located right in the middle of the Asian Continent, on one side of the Bosphorus Strait, which is just on the border with Europe, I am stunned to see the majesty and sophistication of different cultures nurtured in eternal history, there on the far side. For me, it seems like finding my whereabouts, now that I happened to realize I'm in Asia.
